Our Vision: An informed, literate society who read widely, think critically and contribute to Rwanda’s knowledge based economy.
Rwanda Book Development Initiative (RWABODI) was established in 2008 and is a non-governmental and non-profit organization with a mission to develop and support the book sector and a culture of reading in Rwanda.
RWABODI believes that reading develops literacy, communication and critical thinking skills which are at the heart of higher academic performance across all subjects and crucial for Rwanda’s socio-economic development.
RWABODI aims to work with children, parents, communities, teachers, educators, learning institutions, writers, publishers, librarians, booksellers, the media, government and other partners for the development and promotion of literacy and reading culture in Rwanda, and to support the book sector.
RWABODI along with National Book Trust of Uganda, National Book Development Council of Kenya and National Book Development Council of Tanzania is a member of the East Africa Book Development Initiative (EABDA).
